mimizan-bourg
Oh the days we would dance upon the stones of the kitchen floor, flour up to our elbows and grins as foolish as could be. Oh those simple days! Round and round we went, your tattered skirts swirling behind you, more magnificent than any velvets or silks. Can you remember those days, or have they faded as fast as I from your memory? In your years it is understandable, forgivable, and I take not offense. I just wish for your lips to part in that smile I loved so.

rhineland
Lying prone on the grass under the tall tall tree, your head on my knees as I brushed the leaves from your silvery hair. The stars above us travel the night sky as we teach each other the constellations. The depths of that shimmering sky shone with the lights of lifetimes long past, reflected in your sleepy, sleepy eyes.
Would that it could have lasted forever.
Would that it could have lasted forever.

long long ago
We were walking along the beach, and you started to lag behind. Rain fell about us, transforming the world into one secluded existence. I turned to speak to you, but by then you were gone, lost, out of sight. Calling out, I backtracked. It seemed hours--or too long, in the least--before your voice came from the sea. There you were, knee-deep in Atlantic waters, hair tousled and salty.
It was in the room with the old piano that we would sit and dry our sodden selves. You would lay on the soft pillows and look out at the churning waves, one hand so lightly upon the pane and lips barely parted.
I would watch you for hours, but you had eyes only for the sea.

epistulae
but every time I write the letter
I just end up throwing it away
I don't know why I still try
I guess I just miss you.
